A woman was eaten by vultures after falling from a cliff in France. The 52-year-old woman was hiking with her friends in the Pyrenees when she fell to her death, over 1,000 feet from the hiking trail. Aggressive Griffon vultures consumed her entire body before she could be reached by rescue workers.

Rescue workers circled the area for around 45 minutes, trying to locate the hiker’s body. Unfortunately it was too late. As reported by MSN, the woman was eaten by vultures before her body could be recovered. By the time they found the woman, they could only recover her shoes, clothing and a few bones.

1. You complain about your body or face and everyone around you rolls their eyes.

2. You obsess over a tiny pimple no one is noticing, because you almost never have skin problems.

3. One piece of hair won’t do what you want and you think everyone is looking at it.

4. You make some headway on a project you’re working on but beat yourself up that you didn’t finish it or do as much as you’d have liked to. Some people haven’t done anything productive today.

5. You make a little mistake but it’s fixable and not a disaster and you learned a valuable lesson from it.

6. You worry about not having enough friends, but if you even have one close friend you love and trust and who loves and trusts you, you’re doing better than a lot of lonely people.

7. You could afford a cup of coffee this morning without thinking about it.

8. You’re maybe out of shape or getting a little cold or something but you’re otherwise pretty strong and healthy. If you got sick, you could recover.

9. You have opinions and beliefs you feel strongly about. It means you care about something and have spent time thinking about your experiences and the way you perceive the world.

10. You feel stressed out because you have a lot coming up. Isn’t that better than not doing anything?

11. You went through something terrible and you made it out alive. That’s all. Surviving was enough.

12. You can admit when you need help. It isn’t shameful and it doesn’t mean you’re weak.

13. You woke up this morning and looked up at a roof.

14. You spend all day watching movies or TV shows and you feel guilty about not contributing to society but sometimes everyone just needs to take what my mom calls, “A Mental Health Day” so it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.

15. You loved someone who didn’t love you back. But you felt a life-affirming feeling. You will feel it again.

16. Your iPhone screen is cracked.

17. You worry about your career or what you’re going to do in life. It means you have ambition and drive and will. It’s not a bad thing.

Aside from my family, teachers have had the biggest impact on my life; and it’s interesting what memories linger.

Pre-School - Mrs. Neiderman, who allowed me to dress-up as the “older sister” when we played house, high heels and all.

Kindergarten - Mrs. Elsia, who taught me how to draw for the first time.

1st Grade - Mrs. Quick, who would dance during class to Don Ho’s “Tiny Bubbles.”

2nd Grade - Mrs Wieler, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time as my Mom

3rd Grade - Mrs. Leiken, my first teacher to talk about Hanukkah, even if there were only 2.5 Jews in my class.

4th Grade - Mrs. Hoffman, who thought I was smart enough to be in class with her 5th Graders.

5th Grade - Ms. Lomen, who taught us the importance of deodorant, and made us practice finger jazzercise in class.

6th Grade - Mr. Ayers, who made us play baseball during class, even if we really, really sucked.

7th Grade - Mrs. Stapleton, for letting me sleep under my desk during class, and play solitaire on her computer while the rest of the class worked.

8th Grade - Mrs. Fisher, who let me eat in her classroom during lunch because I had nowhere else to go, and no friends to be around.

9th Grade - Mrs. Schroeder, who let me into her Video Production class even though I wasn’t old enough, and being one of the only people I spoke to that year and still remember.

10th Grade - Mrs. Kamenir, the first person to point out that I wasn’t depressed anymore, and who cared more about my well being than my failing grade in her class.

11th Grade - Mrs. Albertson, for giving me leading roles when I didn’t think I was ready for them, for standing up for me, and for calling me out on my bullshit.

12th Grade - Mrs. Frankl, for helping me to see the big picture and teaching me that some people are just going to think you’re an asshole, and I’m alright with that.

There are many more that continue to leave an impact on me every day. When life gets claustrophobic, it’s important to remember the people and the moments that have shaped my life and it’s a beautiful thing to re-remember the simpler times. Things can be simple again, with choice.
